Prohibit Impossible to Use: Religion, Law, and Reproductive Technologies in the Islamic Republic of Iran
Annotation
The presented study is devoted to defining the relationship between religious and legal norms in the practice of regulation of assisted reproductive technologies in the Islamic Republic of Iran. It has been established that in modern Iran, assisted reproductive technologies are applied as a means of improving the demographic situation. The study determines that the main body of regulatory provisions in this sphere consists of fatwas and ministerial acts. As a result of the conducted research, the author concludes that at the present stage, Iran has achieved a balance between the requirements of religion and legal norms in the regulation of assisted reproductive technologies.
